A Minor Place.

A Minor Place

Information about cafe

Our little gem is nestled between Sydney Rd. and Lygon St. It’s a quiet, charming spot away from the main drags. The bespoke furniture has a great vibe and character. Our friendly staff will bring you a sweet treat!

This is the place to be if you are local. You might consider moving if you are just visiting. We love the coffee!

It is a place that is both familiar and unique, offering a home away form home.

A simple cafe with wood accents that serves global cuisines. There is also an outside area with milk-crate seating. Our menu offers vegan options and a range of beverages, from smoothies and juices to full bars. Our drinks are served with paper straws (no plastics).

Our signature A Minor Place Breakfast is delicious at any hour of the day. It includes ham, minced mushrooms, avo and poached eggs. A good way to start the day is with a book, or just a chance to catch up with old friends. You’ll be happy to meet a client at the ‘Mumbler for breakfast on a weekday morning. This is a great meat-free breakfast. Poached eggs perfectly cooked on crisp grain toast and topped with pesto and dukka. There is no better breakfast than this – and the coffee is amazing!

The Minor Place is not hidden. It’s just unexpectedly located on a backstreet corner. The outside walls are lined with tables, which protrude from the cottage’s facade. When the sun shines, the banks of milk-crate seating grow.

You can relax on the bench at the front of the building to enjoy the dogs’ patient waiting, or you can follow their owners inside to discover a warm, comfortable space filled with light and contemporary touches like modern stained glass or sculptural abstract suburb images on the walls. A Minor Place isn’t forgetting its roots. It’s a simple cottage conversion that was reincarnated in 2004 as a milk-bar and then again as a cafe.

Students gather around communal tables to listen to jazz and indie music. They also enjoy coffee from Wide Open Road and Brunswick locals read newspapers during brunch. There are many healthy options, including stacked vegetable bowls, braised beans, and chilli scrambled egg.
