Welcome to Northwest Montessori School. We are a diverse community of educators and families that recognize that each child learns at their own pace. We are proud to provide nurturing, non-competitive, multiage classrooms that emphasize intellectual, social, and emotional development. We work together to help children become independent, lifelong learners. We are proud to offer a unique Preschool experience in the community. Northwest Montessori Preschool was established by parents who wanted to provide a comprehensive Montessori program for children ages 3-6 from the Moonee Valley, Moreland and surrounding areas. We are proud to be the first Montessori Preschool in our region and have been endorsed by Montessori Australia Foundation (governing body of Montessori in Australia) and to be a member Montessori Schools and Centres Australia Limited.
We also surpass the National Quality Standards established by the Victorian Department of Education and Training.

Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was the founder of the Preschool. Her philosophy is that children should be encouraged to love learning and to reach their natural potential. To provide the best environment for children’s growth and development, we work with parents.
Our Mission
Our goal is to create an environment that encourages individual learning and allows students to explore, communicate, work, and master their skills. Each student should have self-esteem and be able to love learning. Students are encouraged to become independent and lifelong learners, socially confident about themselves and their place in the world. This gives them a strong foundation for life.
Our Approach
The Montessori & Early Childhood certified educators have extensive Montessori experience and understand the importance of the early years for a child’s future. Each child can learn and develop at their own pace in our Montessori classrooms, which are equipped with all the necessary equipment for Cycle 1. We collaborate with families and encourage them to be involved in their children’s education.
