St. Margaret Mary’s Primary School

St. Margaret Mary's Primary School

St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Secondary School was established in 1913. It continues to provide a comprehensive curriculum to the community that empowers and supports its students to be independent, socially conscious, and lifelong learners.

St Margaret Mary’s is committed to the well-being and happiness of all students. Students must be happy in order to learn. Our goal is to create resilient, reflective, self-managed and creative individuals in a welcoming environment that makes everyone feel at home.

Our work is based on building relationships between students, teachers, and students. Actively engaged learners need to have self-worth and confidence.

Our students are encouraged to explore new content and spark curiosity. Our students are challenged by the Catholic social teachings which challenge them.
Our students have the opportunity to help others, both locally and globally.

Our students are prepared for everyday challenges by learning numeracy and literacy skills, helping them to problem solve and think critically.

Our programs are designed to support holistic education with the Arts, Visual Arts, Physical Education and Italian Language. We also offer digital technology skills development and support for those who wish to learn. Our school garden, sustainability club, choir and chess clubs are all very engaged.

This is all supported by a faith community that strives to support students spiritual understanding through stories, Catholic traditions, and prayer.

We are pleased to welcome you to our school community.

St Margaret Mary’s provides a secure, safe and welcoming environment that promotes the academic, spiritual and physical well-being of every child.

The Vision Statement outlines the beliefs and values that we believe in, which support the development of the whole child. We are a faith-filled, inclusive community that respects and includes everyone.

We teach a comprehensive curriculum that is based on the Victorian Curriculum. This allows learners to create and enrich their worlds with meaning, purpose, and hope. It all comes from Jesus’ encounters with life and Jesus’ teachings. To improve access and participation, problem solving, and achievement for all students, ICT capabilities are essential.

We believe every child should have the opportunity to succeed. We encourage creativity, imagination and curiosity. Our students are encouraged to have a passion for learning and be active, responsible citizens in the modern world.

To develop the abilities and competencies of every child, continuous learning is essential. It must be based on a clear purpose and connected to the real world. Teachers are the key to each child’s learning. Learning is student-centered. Teachers work collaboratively with Curriculum leaders and have the opportunity to discuss and develop the needs of students. It is crucial to feel connected and well-being.

Our collective goal is to ensure that all children have a positive, productive school experience and feel connected to their school and the wider community.

The school gates open at 8.30 am and close at 9 am. The gates are then reopened at 3.30pm dismissal. All visitors must sign in at the front desk. All visitors must have a working with children card.
